Beyond Jerusalem: The Life and Times of Sir Charles Hubert Parry
Wednesday 31st Oct 2018, 19:00

Patrick Terry – Counter-Tenor,
Dominic Sedgwick - baritone
Nigel Foster – Piano,
Gabriel Woolf - Speaker

An exploration of the songs and life of Sir Charles Hubert Parry, best known today as the composer of Jerusalem, a stalwart of the Last Night of the Proms, and generally thought of as an Edwardian ‘stick-in-themud’. However nothing could be further from the truth; his politics were (for the time) radical, he was a keen sailor, and one of the first motorists to be issued with a speeding ticket. This concert features extracts from his diaries and letters, some of which have never been heard in public. Parry’s songs will be sung by two members of the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme of the Royal Opera House.
